Dublin, Ireland
Dublin has a significant amount of publicly owned (municipal and national) roof space and real estate that together have great potential as a location for solar technologies. Ireland is already a world leader in wind, having heavily invested in offshore capacity. The city is now serious about solar. Dublin Chief Executive Officer Owen Keegan has asked IBM to assess the potential of urban solar and exploring potential business cases for municipally owned, distributed solar energy. The project will look at the optimal way to integrate this new energy source into the existing power grid.
